Aggregation

Q: Does ByAllAccounts offer Cost Basis aggregation to Orion?

A: ByAllAccounts does not provide Cost Basis data to Orion.

Q: How do I get help if my accounts are failing aggregation through ByAllAccounts?

A: Orion will be Tier 1 support for all issues with accounts failing to aggregate. You can click the "Contact Us" link in the ByAllAccounts application to create a ticket to Orion. Please note: Multiple support tickets are not needed or recommended for multiple accounts strewn across the same institution with the same error.

Q: Will Orion import transactions while an account is failing aggregation?

A: If the institution is failing aggregation Orion will first submit a ticket to ByAll. Then, Orion will assist in uploading transactions for 90 days beyond the date that aggregation begins to fail. After 90 days of failed aggregation the account will be considered "Advisor Maintained." If you do not wish to maintain these accounts on your own you can either cancel the accounts or for an additional charge the Orion Professional Services Team is able to assist in reconciling these accounts.

*All history must be provided in the "Orion Transaction Add" custom import excel template and as a best practice, it is recommended that it be accompanied by the custodial PDF statement.

Account Composer

Q: What is Account Composer?

A: Account Composer is a tool that uses the Position file to keep your HeldAway accounts in balance. If there is a unit difference during daily reconciliation due to a missing transaction, then Account Composer will put a Placeholder Transaction into the account to balance it with the Position file for that day. This transaction will appear as a ‘Daily Remaining Share Balance’ (which can be either positive or negative), an ‘External Account Activity In’ or an ‘External Account Activity Out’ transaction type.

Q: Are Daily Remaining Share Balance & External transactions automatically removed from the account if the correct Transaction data shows up later?

A: If the correct transaction does come in that should replace the Placeholder Transaction (it has to have the same units and same effective date) then the Placeholder Transaction will be removed from the account. There are instances where placeholders are not removed by Account Composer and it is a best practice for the advisor to review these transactions daily through the Account Composer application.

Q: Does Account Composer require any work by the Advisor?

A: Account composer DOES require the Advisor to go in and review their data. Within the Account Composer app, the Advisor can use the "Accounts with Transaction Errors" tab to review what accounts Placeholder Transactions have been applied to. Advisors can edit the transactions to reflect what they should be if they keep the number of units the same on the edited transaction.

Q: How often should I review the Account Composer app?

A: It is recommended that Advisors review the Account Composer app daily.

Q: Is Account Composer required?

A: Account Composer is turned on for ALL new setups and is required by Orion for all HeldAway accounts.

Q: Is there further training on how to use the Account Composer app?

A: Advisors can watch the Account Composer Ascent course that covers this application and how to use it or they can request a Demo from the Orion SME Data Reconciliation team.
