(Redtail) Primary VS. Preferred in Redtail

What?

The Contact Card contains all of the outreach and residency information methods for the clients, such as phone numbers, email addresses, and physical addresses. Clients may have many, so knowing which is the primary and the preferred is very important. With the client's information marked as either, it helps other database users understand a client's preferred contact method and expands your ability to search and report your database further.

 





How?

Primary

  • Primary allows the user to know which phone number/email/address is their main point of contact.

  • Items marked as Primary will have their type bolded (Home, Email, etc.). This is an easy way for the user to know which is primary without editing each address.

  • The contact can have one Primary item for each type of contact item.

 

Preferred

  • Preferred is considered the first method of contact a database user should be using to reach out to their client.

  • Preferred explains that the client would rather be contacted this way before the primary method.

  • Items marked as Preferred will have that contact information bolded ( (444)444-0000, 180 Norton Street, etc.).

  • The user can only choose one preferred item out of the entirety of a contact's card.
