Why Assign Models or Strategies to an Account?

What is Account Assignment?

Account Assignment is a tool in the Advisor Portal that designates how an account trades by linking it to a manager, model, or strategy. Assign one account or update multiple accounts en masse from a single workflow.

After confirming the assignments, Orion generates the resulting trades and surfaces a Trade Instance notification so the trades move on to Trade Order Review.

How Does Account Assignment Work?

Assign Models or Strategies to an Account Click the Trading tab in the main menu. Select Account Assignment from the drop-down menu.

 

 

Select a Manager

• Select a Manager or Model in the drop-down.
  
  
• Based on that selection, choose the applicable model or strategy in the second drop-down.
  
  
• Click Next.

 

Account Assignment

• Review all accounts under the selected rep code that are eligible for the selected model or strategy on this page.
  
  
• Search for the account(s) by name or account type.
  
  
• Check the box on the left side of each applicable account to assign it.
  
  
• After selecting the checkbox for all applicable accounts, click Next Step.

 

Confirm Assignments

• Review the model and manager changes for all of the selected accounts.
  
  
• Confirm the new assignments by clicking Commit.
  
  
• When the Trade Instance notification populates, click Go to Trade Order Review to view the trades.

 

Important Notes

• Orion generates trades only for accounts updated to Sleeve Strategy, Overlay Model, or Model.
  
  
• Updating an account to Advisor Directed/Self Directed or Custom Sleeve removes the model association only, and the account continues to hold its current positions. The account sells to cash only upon initiating a rebalance. To initiate a manual rebalance, submit a request to the service team.
  
  
• Some account assignment changes update only the account or associated sleeve, and some changes update the entire registration.

In Summary Open Account Assignment from the Trading tab to designate how an account trades. Select a manager or model, choose the model or strategy, then pick the eligible accounts to assign. Review the changes and click Commit to confirm the assignments and generate the trades. Trades are generated only for accounts moved to the Sleeve Strategy, Overlay Model, or Model; other changes remove the model association without selling to cash.
