Why Are Advanced Search Types Important?

• Segment searches use Types to filter the criteria needed for the information you're searching for. This makes the Advanced Search more customizable, letting you find specific contact records with only the data you want to provide.

• Advanced Search Types are filtered further with Advanced Search Fields. The Fields provided in a search are always based on the Type selected. This further gives you control over searching through your records.

What Are Advanced Search Types?

Advanced Search Types are part of the Advanced Search system in Redtail CRM. Types are made up of Fields and Values, that when used together, return search results of contacts that match the segmented data you're looking. Advanced Search is one of the most widely used features in the CRM, using the database lists created by your admin or Database Owner, to get as little or as much as you need when searching. For more detailed information on Advanced Search, utilize the (Redtail) Advanced Search article.

How Do Advanced Search Types Work?

Unlike the standard search box at the top of Redtail CRM, Advanced Search uses a dropdown menu system to find the group and/or groups of contacts in your database. Your search string starts from the left (Type) and moves to the right until you are finished with that string (Value).

The search options from right to left include:

• Type - The type of data within your CRM that you want to search within.

• Field - Database fields specific to the Type. Your available options here change based on the Type you have selected.

• Operand - The logical relationship between your selected Field and the Value provided in the next box.

• Value - Provide the criteria for the Field you're searching. Depending on the Field, this box may be a dropdown menu or text freeflow.

For Example: If you select the Advanced Search Type of "Contact," the Field dropdown menu populates with fields related to the contact (Category, Dob, Gender Description, Status, etc.).
